About Matt Verboom
I grew up in Thunder Bay, played varsity basketball at Lakehead University, and earned degrees in Kinesiology and Education before pursuing a career in human performance. What started in elite sport eventually led me to a persistent question: why do so many people stay in pain or plateau despite doing everything right? The answer almost always comes back to unresolved muscle dysfunction.

Strength & conditioning coach to Megan Oldham — Canadian freestyle skier, 2026 Olympic gold medallist. Seven years of work together.
Philosophy
"I enjoy working with people who present challenges — and who are genuinely committed to making progress."
My practice is built around finding root causes. Pain, limitation, and dysfunction almost always have an underlying reason — and identifying it is more valuable than managing symptoms indefinitely. Whether someone arrives with a decades-old shoulder issue, a herniated disc, post-surgical stiffness, or a performance plateau, the process is the same: assess systematically, identify what isn't functioning, correct it, and build on that foundation.
A background in education shapes how I work with clients — taking time to explain what's happening and why, because people who understand their situation make faster progress. I work best with people who are committed to the process, not just looking for a quick fix.
"The confidence I am gaining back is like drinking a cold glass of water after being parched. I am having experiences reminding me of what I used to feel and be like in my life — that is priceless."
A complimentary phone call is always the first step. Tell Matt what you're dealing with — and find out together whether working together makes sense.
